We’ve had a lot of days the past couple of months with northerly trades bringing in dryer air. Makes for almost cloudless sunsets. Of course having some clouds can add interesting color and shadow to the sunset. Not on this particular occasion.

It’s useful to go back to previous years pictures and take another pass thru what images you’ve kept. In the days after I’ve taken pictures, I’ll get rid of the obviously bad ones. I’ll find the one or two images I definitely want to post here or elsewhere and move on. Now I’m going back again and further culling what I don’t want to save for various reasons. Plus I’ll take a little more time to study what I’ve got left. Here’s an image I cropped down from the wide angle shot I’d originally made. It makes the setting sun, the back side of Diamond Head and the family walking back to the nearby beach more prominent. The family adds a sense of proportion and movement and makes for a more compelling picture.

Time to sing the old year out and Start Anew! It’s a clean slate to write on or fresh paper to print with an interesting photo. Be well.

It’s been awhile since I created a sequence image. I saw the possibility as he was going into the maneuver. It would’ve been a more complete image, if I’d seen it a little sooner.

I didn’t realize it had been so long since my last post. The aging PC I use to process my shots had been giving me fits. It hadn’t kept me from image making but processing them became an adventure. After various efforts to keep it going, I finally decided to replace it by building my own. The new one is up and running smoothly. Here’s a shot from today. A friend of mine was giving a Tandem ride on his paraglider. His passenger is just appearing beneath the wing as they complete an aerial maneuver. In case you’re wondering, they are horizontal.

We’ve had Voggy weather the past few days. With air thick enough to cut, it filters the sun to the extent you can capture interesting shots.
