This is a shot I got a few years ago out my back door. The sky wasn’t this red. This is courtesy of a Lightroom Preset called COL Deviant. It was a nice orange glow but the preset brings out the shape of the clouds. The clouds looked like God attempted to send us a message but perhaps it was backward. Maybe it was a Rorschach test!?
This is from April 2008 when days of Kona Trades brought Vog from the volcano activity on the Big Island. Between the Vog and the overdevelopment of the clouds over Waimanalo the air was thick on this afternoon.
If you take a lot of photos it’s always worthwhile to go back to previous years.
Your photo eye has certainly improved since you took your earlier images. Plus, if you use Lightroom, as I do, or Aperture. It’s an opportunity to rework an image that might have been so so at the time.
Other than the cost of living, there aren’t too many downsides to living in Hawaii. However, after growing up in New England, I do miss the season changes. I tend to feel left out when the different photo sites run a contest based on the season. Spring being the current subject for photo submissions. This musing was prompted by my going thru some photos I took while visiting Moanalua Gardens three years ago. Monkey Pod trees are the big draw and standing under the canopy of the trees provided some interesting textures to play with. Using one of the Lightroom presets I created a what if fall came to Oahu look.

In January I caught this image of the Moon as it rose above Mariners Ridge in Hawaii Kai.
