1st Post of the New Year

As the year waned I took the opportunity to visit the Christmas displays at the Honolulu Hale on New Years Eve.  That’s city hall if you live on the mainland.   The picture in the previous post is the entrance to city hall. A unique feature of celebrating Christmas on Oahu is the displays prepared by the different city offices. During the year these are the stereotypical anonymous government workers but come the Yuletide season they get to show creativity thru individual displays of Christmas spirit.

I wish I could have visited a little sooner.  This year along with the Christmas trees the offices also created imaginative Gingerbread houses reflecting the holiday in Hawaii.  A few of the houses, like the Board of Water Supply were collapsing from being on display for a month. Pictured below is just one example of a house withstanding the rigors of time.
